Wooden Tangram Puzzle

For more than two hundred years, the tangram has asked the same simple question: can you make this shape from these seven pieces? Each of our wooden tangram puzzles is cut from sustainably sourced hardwood and finished by hand in our Thai workshop, so every edge meets cleanly and every piece feels right in the hand. The seven boards of skill

In China the tangram is called qīqiǎobǎn, "seven boards of skill". It reached Europe and America in the early 1800s, where it became a genuine craze; Lewis Carroll was among its devotees. The rules have never changed: use all seven pieces, lay them flat, never overlap. From those limits come thousands of figures, from animals and boats to people in motion. Mathematicians have proven that exactly thirteen convex shapes can be made from the set.

Why a wooden tangram

Card and plastic sets do the job. Wood makes a tangram an object worth keeping out on a desk or coffee table.
