Unique among most exporters today, SiamMandalay
focuses on products which can be made in larger quantities
by hand, without compromising quality. When we make the decision
to introduce a new line, many steps are taken to source the
manufacturer who can deliver quantity and quality, on time.
Each supplier is carefully chosen from the many in our region,
as enterprises which create top notch giftware and accessories
in ways that support their local communities and culture.
Thailand's heritage as a country with many
talented artisans is a great source of pride to its citizens,
with the knowledge that similar styles and quality are not
to be found in other countries. Therefore, the Thais are very
interested in showing their products, and are excited that
other countries will be able to enjoy the crafts as they do
on a daily basis.
Every product shown on this website is handmade
in traditional fashion. The earthenware, Tatami goods, bamboo
accessories and wood carvings are made in smaller, open air
factories using inherited methods for production. Each factory
operates as a community, with a great amount of communication
between employees. Only the Tatami mat itself is woven by
a machine which can achieve a much tighter weave than by hand.
As are most other products in Thailand, the tabletop items
and games in wood are a cottage industry, where many individual
houses contribute to the completion of an order. Most importantly,
both of these manufacturing structures maintain the ties between
the Thai culture and the creativity of its people.
